Top government scholarships in Asian countries for international students

Asia can be a great place to complete your studies. An increasing number of students from developed and developing countries choose to pursue degree in countries such as Japan, China, Korea or other countries. Asian Government Scholarships

 Japanese Government MEXT Scholarships
Japanese Government Scholarships are administered by the Japanese Government. It offers scholarships to foreign students planning to study in Japan.  Master’s degree or PhD research students. The scholarships cover allowance, travelling costs, and school fees.

Korean Government Scholarships
The Korean Government Scholarship Program provides international students with an opportunity to conduct research at universities in Korea and strengthen Korea-friendly networks worldwide.  The scholarships cover tuition, allowance, travel, airfare, medical insurance and other possible expenses.

Tianjin Government Scholarship (TGS) for International Students in China invites students all over the world to apply for this scholarship to pursue undergraduate, masters and doctoral program in Tianjin.

Chinese Government-Bilateral Program for International Students
Chinese Government Scholarship—Bilateral Program offers a full or partial scholarship. It supports undergraduate programs, master’s programs, doctoral programs, general scholar programs and senior scholar programs.  Full scholarship includes school fees, monthly allowance and insurance.

Chinese Government Great Wall Scholarship Program for Developing Countries is a full scholarship established by MOE for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to sponsor students and scholars in developing countries to study and conduct research in China. It supports general scholars and senior scholars  for Master’s and PhD studies during 1 year.

The Taiwan Government Scholarships

The Taiwan Government through the Ministry of Education (MOE) offers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD  scholarships for international students who wants to study in Taiwan Colleges and Universities through the Taiwan Scholarship Program.  The scholarships cover tuition and payment of academic fees and subsistence allowance.

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme invites high-calibre students to pursue their PhD degree programs in Hong Kong’s institutions. The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for a maximum period of three years.

Singapore International Graduate Award

Singapore International Graduate Award is for international students with excellent academic undergraduate and/or master’s results, and strong interest in doing research leading to a doctorate (PhD) in Science and Engineering at a Singapore University.  The award provides financial support for up to 4 years of PhD studies including full tuition fees, monthly stipend, settlement allowance, and airfare grant.

The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS)

the Malaysian Government attracts the best international students to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. The scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government’s effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.  It covers air tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia, approved tuition fees, monthly maintenance allowance, annual grant for books and internal travel, medical/health Insurance, installation and termination grant, thesis allowance, and visa costs.
